Arjo is a globally recognised supplier of medical devices, services and solutions. We have a long history of collaboration with architects and healthcare design and planning teams to create efficient care facilities and to obtain a good working environment.

Why is Building Information Modelling (BIM) ideal for healthcare projects?

For a healthcare facility, it is important to consider spatial requirements and equipment layouts in relation to patient and caregiver requirements for treatment and patient handling. The building information models are loaded with visualisations for the placement of this equipment, which in turn benefits the facility management phase. At the same time, rooms are also prototyped virtually, and the inputs of all those impacted by design, i.e. doctors, nurses, carers, and patients can be taken into consideration when planning room layouts, operations, and work flow.

BIM is used globally – in both minor and major construction projects and is considered the new standard; enabling more efficient processes leading to less costs, less waste, and fewer delays. Not only do the majority of architects and engineers already work with BIM objects, it is essential to new design processes and is mandatory in many regions including several states in Australia.

As a technology and a process, building information modelling allows effective design communication, development planning and process setting. This in turn has a positive impact on the construction process, enables prudent investment of time and money and translates into higher business benefits and the best project outcomes. BIM simulates the entire project delivery model and presents its point of view to the regulatory board with clarity. This maintains transparency and eliminates the issues present in obtaining the necessary certifications.
